How do I change or cancel my recurring contribution?

In this article:

  1. What you can change about your recurring contribution
  2. Using your receipt to change or cancel a contribution
  3. If you can’t find your monthly receipt in your email
  4. If you made a recurring contribution using your ActBlue Express account

What you can change about your recurring contribution

You can update your credit card and the number of months remaining for the contribution. If you donated as an ActBlue Express user, you can change the dollar amount of your recurring donation.

Using your receipt to change or cancel a contribution

Every month, we send a receipt for your recurring contribution via email. The easiest way to change or cancel your recurring contribution is by clicking the “Edit payment details” link at the bottom of the receipt.

After clicking the link, you can change the number of months remaining for the contribution or cancel it altogether.

Add our email address to your address book to ensure your monthly receipt does not filter into your spam folder. Unfortunately, you cannot change the recipient or process date of a recurring donation. If you’d like to change these factors, you can cancel the contribution and sign up for a new one that reflects your preferences.

If you can’t find your monthly receipt in your email

You can look up your contribution using our Contribution Lookup & Action Center.

You’ll need the following contribution information:

  • Card number
  • Donation amount
  • ZIP code
  • Contribution submission date
  • Donor’s last name

After finding your donation, you’ll automatically land on your receipt.

Your receipt includes the order number, recurring contribution amount, and donation date. Click the “Change or cancel your recurring payments” link under the green box, which indicates your recurring contribution is active.

You can update the credit card used for that contribution, change the number of months remaining, or cancel the contribution altogether.

To update a credit card, select the “Update your credit card” dropdown, enter your new information, and click “Update card.”

To update the time remaining for the contribution, select the “Change the recurring settings for this contribution” dropdown and enter the number of months you’d like.

You can cancel your recurring contribution by clicking the “Cancel the rest of this recurring contribution” link.

When you click this link, a pop-up will ask you why you want to cancel. After choosing a reason, click “Yes, cancel this contribution.” Then you’re all set.

If you made a recurring contribution using an ActBlue Express account
