Why is ActBlue a nonprofit?

We’re a nonprofit for a few different reasons. First, we are a mission-driven organization. 

As a nonprofit organization, ActBlue aims to build tech and infrastructure for Democratic campaigns and progressive-aligned causes to fuel long-term, people-powered change. We build digital fundraising tools and process contributions for the groups that use our platform.

In addition, being a nonprofit allows us to focus on building the best tools for everyone we work with rather than concentrating on bringing in the most revenue. That means that with ActBlue, a first-time city council candidate has the same tools as a presidential contender, and more people can run competitive campaigns.
