What is the difference between search results and ads?

Google search results are populated using an internal algorithm. Google ranks these organic search results by analyzing links and their content. ActBlue has no control over these results.

Sometimes, Google search results at the top are ads. An “ad” icon will appear next to these links. Campaigns and organizations, not ActBlue, pay for these ads.  

We know that this distinction is confusing. We’re happy to refund anyone who has made an unintended donation.
