[What is weekly-to-monthly recurring and how can I set it up?](https://help.actblue.com/hc/en-us/articles/16870065678615-weekly-recurring#weekly-to-monthly) --- ### **What is weekly recurring?** Weekly recurring is an ActBlue Core feature which allows donors to make a contribution every week leading up to Election Day (or any other special occasion for your campaign/organization)!  --- ### **How do I set up weekly recurring?** Our support team can enable weekly recurring on a campaign Dashboard ten weeks before an election. We can also enable weekly recurring on a 501(c)(4) or 501(c)(3) Dashboard up to ten weeks before an important deadline or event. To get started, contact our support team [here](https://help.actblue.com/entity-support)! Once our support team enables weekly recurring across your Dashboard, you'll need to manually select which form to apply it to. To do this, navigate to form you'd like to offer weekly recurring on and then click the **Edit** button to open up the **Form Editor**. Next, select the **Recurring Settings** tab from the options provided: ![A screenshot of the form editor menu with the Recurring Settings tab highlighted.](https://actblue-img.s3.us-east-1.amazonaws.com/help.actblue.com/Weekly+Recurring/WeeklyRecurring_RecurringSettingsFormEditorTab.png) Under **Recurring Frequency** select **Weekly** from the dropdown and then select the date of your election or event from the **Weekly Recurring Sunset** dropdown. Weekly recurring contributions will automatically terminate on the sunset date you select here. If you'd rather give donors the option to continue giving after the sunset date, you'll want to turn on weekly-to-monthly recurring (detailed below). ![](https://help.actblue.com/hs-fs/hubfs/image-png.png?width=396&height=540&name=image-png.png) You should now see a weekly recurring ask displaying on your contribution form preview. One side of the toggle says Yes, count me in until the general election on May 13 and the other side of the toggle says No, donate once.](https://actblue-img.s3.us-east-1.amazonaws.com/help.actblue.com/Weekly+Recurring/WeeklyRecurring_Toggle.png) If you have your recurring display set to **Checkbox**, it should appear like this: ![A screenshot of a weekly recurring ask checkbox labeled Make it weekly until the general election on May 13.](https://actblue-img.s3.us-east-1.amazonaws.com/help.actblue.com/Weekly+Recurring/WeeklyRecurring_Checkbox.png) To save your weekly recurring settings and apply them to your form, make sure to click the green **Publish** button at the top of the Form Editor.  --- ### **What else do I need to know about setting up weekly recurring?** Once a donor pledges a weekly recurring donation, all weekly recurrences will process on the same day of the week as the initial contribution, so try to focus on Monday and Tuesday asks if you’re fundraising for a candidate.  Enabling weekly recurring too far out from big moments might discourage donors from making recurring commitments, which is why we only enable this feature for limited time frames. Weekly recurring will turn off seven days before the sunset date you indicate on your form in order to prevent donors from signing up for a weekly contribution that never recurs. Weekly donations set up before the final seven days will recur one final time during those seven days. Weekly donations will also automatically cease after Election Day or your special event.  ActBlue policy requires groups using pre-set recurring forms to explicitly ask donors for recurring contributions immediately before the donor clicks the link to give. Additionally, any pre-set dollar amounts in the recurring links must reflect what is in the ask. If a group doesn’t adhere to the policy, ActBlue will remove permission to use pre-set recurring forms. [For more information, check out the full policy here.](https://help.actblue.com/hc/en-us/articles/16870090927895-pre-set-recurring-form-policy-and-approval-process) --- ### **How can I set up weekly recurring upsells?** Once we enable the weekly recurring feature for your campaign or organization, you can also enable the recurring upsells that live in the **Post Donation Upsells** tab of the Form Editor. A recurring upsell is a pop-up that donors will see after they process a one-time contribution. This pop-up will ask your donor if they want to increase their impact and sustain your work by converting their one-time donation into a recurring donation. If you activate a recurring upsell for a form that already has weekly recurring set up and enabled, all the language in the pop-up will automatically update to reflect that the contribution will recur on a weekly basis vs a monthly one.  ---   ### **What is weekly-to-monthly recurring and how can I set it up?** Weekly-to-monthly recurring gives donors the option to convert their weekly recurring donation into a monthly recurring donation that continues after your sunset date has passed. To enable the weekly-to-monthly feature, start by navigating to the form you'd like to apply this change to and clicking the **Edit** button to open up the Form Editor. In the **Post-Donation Upsells** tab, set the **Post-Donation Upsell** dropdown to **Recurring:** ![](https://help.actblue.com/hs-fs/hubfs/undefined-Sep-17-2026-06-56-20-9126-PM.png?width=365&height=797&name=undefined-Sep-17-2026-06-56-20-9126-PM.png) Once this is complete, be sure to click the green **Publish** button to save your changes.  To confirm, this upsell will only display when a donor 1) opts into weekly, 2) gives under $500, and 3) pays by card, Apple Pay, Google Pay, or PayPal.  When your donors opt to convert their weekly recurring contribution into a monthly recurring contribution, they will receive: - A clear note on the thanks page, email receipt, web receipt, and their Donor HQ recurring contribution overview - Two reminder emails before the first monthly charge processes: one the day after the sunset date, and one four days before the first monthly charge. Each email will include an easy way for donors to cancel if they’d like. To stop offering weekly-to-monthly recurring on a form, simply return to the **Post Donation Upsell** tab in the Form Editor and select a different option than **Recurring**. Please note that if you decide to make this change to your form, donors who already converted their weekly contribution to a monthly contribution will continue to see that contribution recur monthly.
