Merchant account payouts

Payouts to your bank account from Stripe are automatic and do not need manual triggering or processing. When you receive donations through Raise by ActBlue, you will receive automatic payouts via direct deposit following the schedule below. Donations processed through a Stripe merchant account will generally land in your campaign bank account about two business days after the donation date.

Contribution date (EST) Payout date* Payouts reach your bank account on**
Saturday, Sunday, Monday Tuesday Wednesday
Tuesday Wednesday Thursday
Wednesday Thursday Friday
Thursday Friday Monday
Friday Monday Tuesday

*On banking holidays, payouts may be delayed.
**This may vary depending on your specific bank’s processing schedule.

Merchant account fees

The fee structure for Stripe Merchant accounts is transparent and predictable, allowing you to see a complete picture of your campaign or organization's fees at any time.

ActBlue and Stripe assess a total fee of 3.25% + $0.23 (inclusive of all Stripe and ActBlue fees), which we deduct from the gross donation amount before payout. After removing the transaction fee, the deposits to your bank account reflect the net donation amount. For example, a $20 contribution will result in a total payout of $19.12.

There are no signup fees, payout fees, or maintenance fees.

If you refund a contribution through Raise, we credit you the ActBlue portion of the assessed fees. Unfortunately, Stripe transaction fees are non-refundable.

If a contribution is subject to a formal dispute by the cardholder (a “chargeback”), that contribution is deducted from your next payout, along with a $7 dispute fee. ActBlue may contest the chargeback on your behalf, and if that process is successful, we will return the contribution to you and credit you the $7 dispute fee.

Due to the constraints of operating in jurisdictions where merchant accounts are required, this fee structure differs slightly from the flat fee of 3.95% per contribution for accounts in jurisdictions that do not require merchant accounts.
