Domains and Launch (Hey Victor)
A domain is your website’s public web address (for example, yourcampaign.org), which supporters use to find your site online. You need a domain to make your site publicly accessible.
Hey Victor does not sell or host domains, so purchase one through a registrar such as GoDaddy, Namecheap, Cloudflare, or Squarespace Domains.
Connect a custom domain
Once you’ve purchased your custom domain:
- Navigate to your site details page from your account dashboard.
- Select Connect domain.
- Enter your domain name without https://.
- If needed, include the www version.
- Add the required DNS records at your domain registrar or DNS provider.
DNS records
DNS records tell the internet where to find your website and email services.
Nameservers
Nameservers control where DNS records are hosted. In many cases, nameservers are managed through your domain registrar.
Prepare your site for launch
Before making your site public, update the SEO and sharing settings under Site settings, then General:
- Site title
- Tagline
- SEO and social sharing title
- SEO and social sharing description
- Social share image (recommended size: 1200 x 630 pixels)
Sites are private by default. Make your site public only after connecting a custom domain and confirming the site is ready to launch.
