[Can I use the Channel Breakdown for compliance reporting?](https://help.actblue.com/hc/en-us/understanding-your-channel-breakdown#compliance) --- ### **What is the Channel Breakdown?** The **Channel Breakdown** is a tab in your ActBlue Core Dashboard which gives you a detailed look into where your contributions come from. This can include event forms, merchandise forms, Call Time, and other sources. The Channel Breakdown can help you visualize which contribution channels drive revenue so you can better focus your fundraising efforts.  --- ### **How do I use the Channel Breakdown?** To use the Channel Breakdown, start by signing onto your ActBlue Core Dashboard and clicking the **Channel Breakdown** tab.  Here, you will be able to view cross-channel distribution by dollar amount or by contribution count over a specified period of time for contributions made via ActBlue. Every contribution is assigned to one channel, based on the type of form used, the refcode in the contribution link, and other indicators. | **Channel** | **What counts** | | --- | --- | | Events | The contribution was made on an event type form. | | Call Time | Either of the following is true: 1. The contribution was made using a link that contains an auto-generated or entity-created Call Time refcode that indicates Call Time use ("calltime","ab\_calltime", "call\_time","call-time") on non-event type forms. 2. The donor is a Contact for whom a Call Time call was logged and a subsequent donation came in within the following month. | | Merch | The contribution was made on a merchandise type form and/or is from BigCommerce. | | Digital | The contribution link contains common refcodes that denote email, text, or social media, or the contribution came through a general embed type form or a Website Builder embed form. | | Externally-Driven Fundraising | The contribution came in from a supporter form, on a tandem form owned by another entity, or from the DHQ or AB Directories | | Unattributed | The contribution doesn’t meet any of the above criteria. If a larger portion of your fundraising is in this category, being more deliberate about using different form types and refcodes will help you get a more informative distribution. | --- ### **Why don't I see the Channel Breakdown tab on my Core Dashboard?** The Channel Breakdown isn't available for entities with more than 80K total contributions. We're working to expand access so check back soon!  --- ### **Can I use the Channel Breakdown for compliance reporting?** No, the Channel Breakdown should not be used for compliance reporting. The Channel Breakdown gives you a high-level view of how your ActBlue contributions are distributed across your fundraising channels to better inform your fundraising strategy. Channels are assigned automatically and the breakdown excludes contributions made off platform, so we advise against using it for compliance reporting.
