ActBlue user roles and permissions dictate what users can do on our platform. If the tools or features in this article are unavailable to you, speak to your entity Admin first about updating your permissions.
As mass or broadcast texting programs become more popular, we’ve made it easy for campaigns and organizations to ensure they comply with mobile carrier regulations. Contact your ActBlue representative or our support team and say you want to add a text message opt-in to your account. After we get the necessary information, we’ll turn the opt-in on for your group. An opt-in check box or field will appear on all contribution forms for your group, except for Tandem forms.
New and uncookied donors will see a field marked "Cell phone (optional)" when filling out their personal information, where they can choose to share their phone number with you.
Returning donors (cookied without saved payment) and ActBlue Express donors (cookied with saved payment information) will see an unchecked box inviting them to opt-in to receive SMS updates. If a donor’s phone number is not cookied or saved to their Express account, users will still see the checkbox that they can use to opt-in, but the phone number field will be blank in your reports.
The text message opt-in will also work on Spanish forms.
Your opt-in and opt-out data is available in your spreadsheet exports and webhooks.
The amount of support that the ActBlue Customer Service Team can provide is dependent on the permissions that you have. Check with your entity Admin about your assigned role.
If you have any questions, please contact our support team using the email address you use to access your ActBlue account.
